A cracker Stephen and yes it does

Looks great Stephen , one of the reasons I started Digital painting was that I wasted so much paint and paper and stuff , so I used to work out the problems on computer then when I was happy I painted it in another medium , this is a nice painting.

Lovely Stephen, super light on the bend of the river.

Very many thanks, Dennis, Dennis and Barry for your much appreciated thoughts.

Lovely painting of a nice walk Stephen.

Looks good Stephen, like the light in the sky between the trees and on the water. What size are you working on?

Many thanks Fiona, it's on an A3 pad I got from Cass Arts shop in Manchester. Only works out at about 50p a sheet. I usually use a 12x 9" block of Saunders Waterford. But I think I've been getting a bit tight recently, I think working a bit larger helps.

Looks lovely Stephen and not a bad price for the paper.

Thanks Stephen. I went for 12x9 in the new pastel paper, I usually work on double that size.....it does have a cramped feeling. I'll go up a size when I re-order I think.

Thanks fiona and David.

It´s working! Even more paint please, but the effect will be even better on your good paper .... I´m not bossy at all! I have a large pile of stuff for ´reference´of what not to do lying around if you know what I mean.

Many thanks Gudrun, I think we all have such a pile hidden away!

Tonight's effort at the art group, again using the larger, cheap paper. I do think it is encouraging me to be a little bolder.

About the Artist
Stephen Slater

I am a self taught amateur painter, I mostly paint landscapes in watercolour but I 'dabble' in other mediums from time to time. I really enjoy my art, especially painting outdoors when the weather allows.
