A Sring Lane by Stephen Slater

A Sring Lane
Comments

I think this is your best watercolour yet, if I may be so bold. It's brimming with life and beautiful light.

Really beautiful colour Stephen

Many thanks Gudrun and Dennis for your lovely comments, needed some encouragement as I'm off to the dentist now!

Lovely variation in tone, which your early paintings lacked. Well done!

Delightful Stephen I really love the foreground shadows, superb.

Very bright and sunny, Stephen. Great composition.

Agree with Gudrun , has depth and solidity plus atmospheric reality. Great.

Many thanks everyone for your lovely comments. Funny isn't it that the simplest, quickest ones always seem to turn out best in watercolour, about twenty minutes on a cheap piece of cartridge paper. Perhaps that's where I often go wrong, fiddling around on 'proper' rag paper?

Lovely work Stephen, simple subject done well, good light and mark making.

Ditch the cheap paper and use the good stuff and do this! It's only paper .... I look forward to more of these kinds of paintings. Enjoy it.

Lovely spring feel to this, Stephen.

Feels light and free ..everything about it conveys spring to me.

Many thanks Jennifer and Lesley.

A nice spring like feel to this Stephen.

Every time I come across one of your works, I stop and enjoy it, again. You wouldn't think that a painting of an English countryside could make an old American from Arkansas feel nostalgic, but it does.

About the Artist
Stephen Slater

I am a self taught amateur painter, I mostly paint landscapes in watercolour but I 'dabble' in other mediums from time to time. I really enjoy my art, especially painting outdoors when the weather allows.
