That’s such a pity Stephen, are there any more planned? Lovely sketch anyway, how did the other person do?

Many thanks Fiona. The other person was a young Asian lady who experimented with ink drawing, using a stick that our teacher brought along, she seemed to enjoy the session. It was a great idea but as usual with things organised by local government (in my view, that is), there is always a lack of enthusiasm in the planning. A private company would mail shot potential clients or advertise the event properly. It was great for the two of us to have the time together with the teacher but obviously that would not be viable. I go to the art group at the centre every Tuesday but the first I heard of it was on Tuesday this week! We are worried at the group that numbers are dropping but There is no urgency in attracting others, it it was a business, the it would have closed long ago. I bet you are sorry you asked Fiona!

Lol....no not sorry I asked, it seems to be a common occurrence. Only today, I was speaking to the facilitator of the Monday group I go to and she is struggling to get enough people to start the October term to cover the cost of the venue. We cancelled all meets from May because of not sustaining enough numbers, now it looks as though it won’t go ahead. This happened to a Friday group I once attended a couple of years ago, it ended up just myself and one other.....I’m beginning to become paranoid that it’s ME!! My Tuesday proper art class isn’t back until October, it’s a long established class and has a waiting list. I think you are right about local government, not too hot on the promotion of services.

Beautiful sketch Stephen.

Lovely, Stephen. Can see you absorbed lots from looking at the park.

Many thanks Shirley, I am very familiar with this local park and have painted a lot from photos I have taken there. However spending a hour or so sitting quietly in the sun sketching this scene was very different. You see so much more on the spot

Love this, Stephen. So sorry to hear about the lack of support...I'd have come but it's a long way!!

Many thanks Thalia, you would have liked the weather, almost like Malta! Sadly no sea.

Attended a Council organised sketching session in Werneth Park, only two of us turned up but we enjoyed sketching together with the teacher.

Stephen Slater

I am a self taught amateur painter, I mostly paint landscapes in watercolour but I 'dabble' in other mediums from time to time. I really enjoy my art, especially painting outdoors when the weather allows.
