Nice sketch, works really well with just a hint of colour, Cotswold stone and a beautiful village nicely sketched.

Very good sketch - and charcoal too - I just make a ghastly mess with the stuff so I admire anyone who can use it artistically!

Many thanks Thea, I think like everything else it's down to practice.

This is a bit different for you Stephen - quite effective.

love this one Stephen

Many thanks, Frank and Dennis.

Very nice Stephen,I have never tried charcoal perhaps I should give it ago sometime. Is this the Stanton near Broadway?

Many thanks Christopher, it is ner Broaway, although I painted this from a photo in a guide book. It is fun to use charcoal with watercolour but you have to be careful not to smudge the charcoal.

Lovely Stephen the charcoal gives it a nice texture. I wouldn't dare try mixing the two...lol

Thanks Fiona, if you lay the watercolour on gently it doesn't disturb the charcoal too much.

Ha ha...easy for you to say Stephen....lol

I am a self taught amateur painter, I mostly paint landscapes in watercolour but I 'dabble' in other mediums from time to time. I really enjoy my art, especially painting outdoors when the weather allows.
