Not seen the sketch as yet, but this is a great composition and I also love the muted colours.

This looks an idyllic village Stephen! I like the gentle lilt of the land and how the cottages fit snugly into this setting.

I&#39;ve seen the sketch and, whilst I like both versions, I prefer it before the wash was added. Nonetheless they are both great.

Many thanks Michael, I think I agree with you, better to have left it as A pen sketch and then perhaps do a paining from that later. Which I may do at some stage, it was very nice and quiet in Grasmere in between the rain!
