It gives a lovely feeling Stephen shh you are giving away secrets

Nice work, Stephen.

Many thanks Dennis and Seok, I don't think there are any secrets any more, with all the painting mags, how to books and D.V.D's around.

something painted simply can have a lovely effect ( like this does) but I still think it's hard to do.

Thanks Marjorie, someone said to me once 'easy things are what you do every day, hard things are what you only do occasionally'.

How true Stephen. A great lesson on how to simplify, with a great result.

I really like this and also how you have painted it.

Many thanks Fiona and Joseph.

I did this quick sketch this morning using a small squirrel mop brush from imagination with no pre drawing. I thought any beginners might be interest. I wet the sky area and added the simple Sky. Then when that was mostly dry I added the trunk and branches and while that was still damp added the clumps of foliage, remembering to leave a few sky holes. if you do this while the branches are still damp the foliage blends with them without leaving any hard lines. Finally I added the field with Raw Sienna and a little Ultramarine Blue in the foreground and lastly the tree shadow.

I am a self taught amateur painter, I mostly paint landscapes in watercolour but I 'dabble' in other mediums from time to time. I really enjoy my art, especially painting outdoors when the weather allows.
