Just like me Stan,. Sometimes I get to a stage in a painting and I just don't know what to do next and then start to mess around too much. I like the colours in this painting and it's obvious what plant it is.. You have highlights and tone on t he leaves, and I like the pinks. Hope you get the operation sorted soon, good luck.

Hi Stan Sorry you were cancelled...it is often staffing issues...or supplies..the bane of my wife's job trying to get the entire act together on the day and the patient...back to the painting...the foliage is very good...the flowers could perhaps be a little lighter? But it still looks good...well done and good luck.

These flowers look lovely painted in wet on wet water colour I remember doing some in classes during the 80's...I can't for the life of me remember the name of them but in Oz they last only a short time so at the time water colour was the only way to go

Hi there Stan. Very impressed by the painting. Very lifelike. I too cannot remember the name of them, perhaps you will enlighten me. The leaves are particularly good, you have captured the colour perfect. keep it going. Hope the op is sorted soon.

Thanks Patricia for your comments. Actually they are cyclamen but the colour defeated me. They were more of a lilac in real life but I didn't have the right sort of red and blue to mix. Just been and bought a new red.

I was supposed to have an operation on the last day of the Oil painting class for 08 but it got cancelled, the operation not the class. So I went and was given a pot of real flowers to pain. We were supposed to start at one spot and using a daub method. expand the painting until we got as far as possible in the 2 hour class. Given my natural inclination to rush, I had finished within the hour so then started to mess about with it to use the time. I realised that when i am painting, I often lose concentration. I really don't know what I am doing and it's like someone else is doing the painting. This is why my efforts after the first hour tended to mess the paining up rather than enhance it.
