Copy of Degas “ Red Ballet Skirts”

Wonderfully done Linda. I do like the warm colours you’ve achieved with your pastels.

Thanks Tessa. Rembrandt pastels are really vibrant and loaded with strong pigments.

A fan of Degas, but I must have missed this one. You have caught his style so well.

Wonderful movement and flamboyance in your pastel Linda.

I cannot but admire the work of you and Edgar. A perfect subject to exploit pastels & that's what you have done Linda.

Many thanks Lewis, Fiona and Brian. I was quite pleased in the end, but I originally took a photo of my screen which was a lot paler than the original. It looked yellow, not red, but when the tutor went on about burnt sienna and red, I realised that he was looking at something else. So I had to look it up on the internet and download it to get the proper colours.

A very competent drawing Linda.

Thank you Alan.

What a stunning and beautiful colour palette for these ballerinas and their orange tutus do glisten, Degas would be proud!

Many thanks Angela for taking the time to comment.

You've captured the poses and the movement of the ballerinas really well. Lovely work.

I wasn’t familiar with this Degas pastel until it was the focus of a recent online course that I did on zoom. It was great fun to do. Rembrandt pastels on colours card. Slightly bigger than A4.
