Lovely painting Shirley.

Thank you, Stephen.

Smashing use of colour Shirley

Fine painting Shirley. What were your new colours? I think most of us are inclined to stick with the same palette but always interesting to experiment and add something new!

I like it and the colours you've used here, and I'm also wondering what the new colours are? Think you've got lovely light and tones.

Well, they were permanent alizarin crimson, opera rose, yellow ochre and cobalt blue hue plus white. I mixed up the darkest dark I can from them, in a ‘mother pile’, and create tones and colours and tints from that. I like a shake-up as it makes you fly by the seat of your pants!

A painting full of life and colour Shirley.

Working on this from a photo and with some new paint colours I’ve just got. Thinking about tones and hoping to get the feeling I had when there.
