Always first class Shirley

I think this is really lovely.

Lovely marks Shirley

Looks good to me Shirley, really like the yellow in the sky which is echoed in the foreground.

Thank you, Heather, Denise. David and Barry. I think this photo is a bit dark.

A lovely painting with lots to like about it Shirley.

Beautiful Shirley, your paintings give a real feel of the place which makes me want to visit that part of the country!

Really lovely. That yellow in the sky matching the fields is great. Lovely positive brush strokes

Layers, glazes, and scumbles work well in acrylic - they can look a bit dull, but varnish normally takes care of that; any paint that dries matte can present this problem, especially if you're used to oils. When acrylics first came to Britain, a critic described them as "alarmingly garish" - but as time wore on, new colours were introduced with greater subtlety - and I remember them as being brilliant at teaching you how to mix colour; because you really had to. Over 50 years ago, that was! Discovering them when they were new, and the latest thing, was quite an experience. Anyway - is this your final version? You say it's 'further work' - if you're still working on it, you could certainly make it a lot brighter; if such be your wish!

Further work on this Plein air painting begin several months ago. I find the acrylics need layers as they dry darker, and the whole thing can look very dim.
