I love this Shirley! The pieces of card work really well to give an interesting textural quality which complements the painting.

Thanks, Diana. I actually stuck a load of them on the canvas ages ago. Came back with the sketch and put on a kind of under painting. And then today I thought I’d spend an hour making the painting, which was fun!

A work full of expression!

I like this too Shirley

Thankyou Lea and Heather😍

I really like this too, Shirley. My comments are all complimentary, although some might not think so. I like the looseness, the texture and the limited palette. There's a sense of melancholy which reminds me of paintings from around the time of the First World War. I'm sure art critics would read a lot into the lonely figure on the extreme edge of the painting, about to leave. Moody and thought-provoking; I think it's excellent.

Those textures are so effective. The card has bedbugs so successful

Thanks for the very kind comments. Roger, you're right it's a bit gloomy. The figure on the right had just had a swim in the rough sea!

Worked from the sketch in acrylics today, on a canvas covered in bits of card.
