Yep, I see the flies - they add atmosphere! I like this: I knew someone many years ago whose style in oil was very much like this - broad blocks of shapes, no fiddling with detail, direct strokes. Sadly, her style just wasn't popular in the 1970s, but I know she'd enjoy this if she were still with us and would understand exactly what you're doing and saying through your painting. I always admired her work. Of course yours is different, it's the approach that's similar (and unusual) - for me, this painting has so much life and energy.

So agree with Robert. Full of life and energy. Very attractive...plus the wild life.

I love this and the other plein air paintings; and I am pleased that your efforts have been awarded a mention in The Artists' Magazine!

Thank you for your comments. I am just waiting for a bit of brighter weather so I can head off with my easel again. I haven't seen the copy of the The Artist's Magazine - I'll try and find one tomorrow.

Another really fine posting in the impressionist style. Well done, Sheridan!

Agree with all that's been said Sheridan, you have a wonderful way with paint that in it's simplicity you say so much, and with strength. I always look out for your paintings.

Oil on canvas board 12" x 12" You can see a couple of flies attached to this painting - proof that it really was "en plein air" It is also nice to remember that the sun is actually able to shine - when it feels like it.
