I love this, so full of character, a real feeling for the place. This sketch is the essence of pen and wash, loose, non-fussy, not overworked, almost a perfect example of the medium. If anything, perhaps the tree encroaches a fraction, being a tiny bit too strong. Otherwise, a great example. Well done!! Erik.

A lovely picture. I really like the colours, the pink is great.

Thank you for your useful comments, Erik. This was a very early experiment with pen and wash. so I am delighted that you like the result.

The stonework of the Priory has a pink tinge in the sunlight. The medium gave me the freedom to develop this without worrying too much about it looking too realistic. I'm glad you like it, Margaret.

Pen and wash. The ruins of Lindisfarne Priory offer a peaceful setting on beautiful Holy Island, Northumberland.
