Hi Shayne. I like your beetle. So unusual to see one with wings unfurled. The difference between the hard carapace and flimsy wings is excellent. I personally find the background too busy and high chroma. I find it moves my eye away from the subject too much and flattens the painting. Cheers.

Thanks all for your kind feedback. The background was made from palette scraps from another painting so totally get you Owen. It was more of an experimental piece. I felt with the background so busy I needed a more neutral monotone subject. That’s what I love about art…. It doesn’t agree with everyone but thanks for your honesty 😁👍🏻
