I love horses and you have truly brought this magnificent creature to life - it's an Arab?. My only comment would be that a little more highlight in the eye might work well - but I'm no expert. As to your comment about this not being finished - for me leaving the neck and reins fading out gives greater presence to the areas you wanted to focus on and the features that give character and personality. I like the chin too. This is a wonderful portrait of a beautiful animal.

thank you for your comment, i agree about the eye, the light in my kitchen is not the greatest, and i looks about 5 shades darker than it really is, i do like the fade out too on the straps, but i didn't do hairs on the cheek or neck so i may go back to it and adjust accordingly thanks Mel

This is stunning work Shaun, I love this very much!!!! you are very good at what you do, well done Shaun, hope to see more of your work, If you go to Painters club at the left side of the page , there is a competition in London for grathite works, I really think you should enter, keep up the good work.

thanks mum :)

Shaun this is stunning! just a study of the eye nose and ears........ the whole painting looks perfect, and your first attempt? i think im giving up now on ever trying to be a good artist :-p this is really excellent :-)

Beautiful portrait Shaun

I agree with Mel - unresolved areas em[hasise others - more impact. I am also impressed with our showjumper.

I agree with your mum Shaun, she knows what she is talking about :). Seriously, it is a lovely piece of work and definitely enter that competition :)

this has so much character and again great use of pencil HB you really dont need all the different H and B if you get more pencils you may find there are only a few you ever use b2 is a nice pencil if you want to try another

What a wonderful gift you have Shaun to replicate such a beautiful creature....to me it's perfection! And Shaun, listen to your mum, get that competiton won.

thank you ever so much for your kind comments, i really appreciate them all, x

First of my Horse Studies, this was a study of the eye/nose/and ears in relation to light, hence why the neck and cheek are not finished. 14hrs draw time, using a HB pencil as i can't afford drawing pencils at the minute. quite pleased with it, found the bottom chin a little difficult, and i suppose that's my least favorite bit.
