Blue Door - Neo Chorio - Cyprus

Lucky you (and her) and what a wonderful result.

What a lovely gesture. Wonderful painting Shaun.

I know you use acrylics, but is this an acrylic painting? It looks like a pastel, but I'd really like to know what brand of paint you're using if it's acrylic - the colour is wonderful.

Thank you, Heather and Denise. Robert I start by using oil pastels, I then use turps to create a ‘wash’ effect. I use acrylic paint,(Senelier), for some of the colours because I don’t have the range of tones I need and I finally use some of the oil pastels for the details. I am in Cyprus at the moment and I have adopted this technique because of the heat.

Your technique here is fabulous Shaun, very eye catching

A lovely rendition of light, colour and shadows Shaun. I particularly admire the red blooms amongst the lush foliage.

Super painting.

Such vibrant colours Shaun- bursting with light.

This is absolutely stunning Shaun. I’m sure the lady who owned the garden was as impressed as I am.

Really effective painting Shaun

I love the texture and the wonderful colours Shaun

Stunning use of colour and the medium Shaun, you are so good at capturing sunshine!

This door is one of the most photographed in Cyprus. The lady who owns the property and is aware that I am an artist, invited me into her garden to paint it from the other side.

About the Artist

I try to achieve vibrant colours in my paintings. I work intuitively with large flat brushes - I also try not to overwork my pictures and they are often completed in two sittings. I use good quality acrylics because of their excellent pigment content. I like to interpret what i see in front of me…
