Elara didn’t ride into the city to be seen; she rode to be remembered. As she passed through the Great Glass Arch—the gateway between the wild northern plains and the silent, stone-faced capital—the wind fought to take the hat off her head. As she reached the center of the square, she didn't slow down. She had a horizon to catch, and the city was just a beautiful, blurry tunnel on the way to the rest of her life.
