They are a beautiful bird, so delicate in their appearance. It’s a super painting Sarah, I love the face especially. I remember seeing great flocks of these birds flying with green plover over the ploughed fields were I grew up.

How lovely Fiona, look out for a matching painting I did of a Lapwing at the same time I did this - I'll post it soon. I actually think I have probably seen Golden Plovers in their winter plumage more often than when they look like this (I've only seen them in spring/summer Cumbria), but I'm never quite sure what I'm looking at with many wading birds in winter!!
