I think it's good Satu.. I'm going through the same thing at present.. It's a good correction, not a mistake... Sometimes I paint one way and my mind goes and changes it to another way, it happens.. LOL, I love this.

Thank you so much Helen and Maria for your comments! I don't like photorealistic portraits either and this was in away quite liberating to do.

Great change Satu, reminds me of Jesus and crown of thorns!

Make that three who don't like photorealism in any subject in my case. This is a stunner, the features are so minimalist but so striking, great art work, wonderful to see it.

Add me to the list, I don't see the point of photorealistic work. This is really good Satu. He looks so unhappy. I like the features being just hinted at and the way half his face is in darkness conveying his misery.

Thank you ever so much Carole, Alan and Louise for your great comments!

A very expressive piece and yes a religious feel Satu

I think this is great painting Satu for the reasons already stated. I confess to liking photorealism too!

Many thanks Dennis and Russell! If we all liked the same things, life would be quite boring.

Yes, I thought of Jesus too, a great portrait of suffering Satu!

I totally agree about the feeling of misery that this coveys Satu, well titled. Love the loose application really adds to the overall atmosphere.

Thank you very much Debs and Fiona for your comments!

Although he looks very sad and angry, it's a good, freestyle portrait, Satu.

Thank you very much Pat!

lovely painting Satu anyway you had fun and you produced this work we all go through these things Satu and I like it .

Deep and brooding but really appealing

Thank you very much Dennis and Michael for your comments!

It actually looks like Jesus Christ's face on the Turn Shroud (but the face turned to the side). Very powerful portrait, Satu.

Thank you very much Thea for your comment. After that so many people have mentioned that he looks like Jesus I can see what you mean. Well it wasn't my intention at all more like a homeless young man or something like that.

Whatever you meant, it has effect, so it is successful!

I've never seen anything from you that's completely wrong, or even remotely wrong for that matter, Satu! This one is spot on, as usual - you've captured the mood and the expression so very well.

Thank you very much Seok, you're always so kind and supportive.

Thank you very much Dermot.

As it seems to happen all the time now, this was going to be a portrait of an old gentleman friend of of ours and I worked for hours and hours until I took the canvas from the easel and had a good look. It was completely wrong!!! This morning I started to correct my mistakes only to realise that there was nothing to be done but cover the whole thing with paint. I decided to change it into something really modern and here it is. I just hope that somebody will like it!
