Simply stunning. This work is so well thought out and put together with the shapes and colours that there is not much more I can add.

It's wonderful Satu, really impressive and as Gudrun has said so well thought out. Well done!

I can tell you thought hard about this Satu. Wonderful combination of shapes and colour besides the composition. I particularly like the WW1 nurse in attendance, she glows! Also those soldier images blending in gray. Smart stuff.

What a daunting project and how well you have risen to the challenge. An inspiring piece of work so well done you! (P.S. I went to a Convent school and if we were naughty we had to go into the chapel and do the stations of the cross, which meant 10 Hail Mary's and 1 Our Father at each station - hardly the way to show children that Christianity is all forgiving!)

Lovely, thoughtful piece Satu. Also good that you can put your faith into action, combining your beliefs and talent. Which I suppose we are given by God for us to use.

Thank you very much Gudrun, Christine, Carole, Thea and Stephen for your kind comments.

Fabulous work, Satu! Looking at it, it conveys to me the central place of the cross in the midst of the storms of life. A very well thought out, and meaningfully executed piece.

Thank you Seok for your kind words.

Hi Satu, I have just come back from a walk on Worthing Pier and saw a lovely painting of an eagle by Anna Variiainen in the 'Making Waves' exhibition, is she your daughter, I know you said she was an artist and was moving to Worthing?

Thank you Glennis! Christine, yes, Anna is my daughter and she does several art fairs in Brighton and Worthing. She is a lovely girl and a very talented artist. You might meet her one day somewhere I Worthing. I have told her that one of my POL friends lives there!

I will look out for her Satu, I visit the art fairs in both Brighton and Worthing, I've 'googled' her and love her work, she is very talented, obviously takes after you!

Some months ago I was asked if I would like to make a painting for our local church's Stations of the Cross. The idea was to combine the Easter story and the First World War. There are nine stations and I choose the last one where the Christ has been taken down from the cross and laid in his tomb. I spent a couple of sleepless nights thinking what on earth I'm going to paint and had I promised to do something that I can't do. I was given a big board which in its self was difficult to handle. Finally the image started to take form in my mind and here it is. At the moment it is displayed in an acrylic box in front of the Holy Trinity Church and tomorrow I'm going to walk with the other artists and members of the parish to see all the nine paintings at their stations.
