Now there's a familiar sight, they look a bit quieter than the Worthing Herring Gulls though! A really good painting Satu, love the colours!

Super painting of these gulls in oils Satu,

I'm really enjoing your birds in oils paintings Satu. This looks a simple palette which works superbly.

I love the simplicity of this painting Satu. I like the understated colour and the choice of subject - most attractive.

Beautiful, a lovely palette

I love it - the simplicity of it is what is so attractive. As Julie and Fiona have said, the palette is perfect.

I like the slightly 'out-of-focus' way you have painted these - not a gnome in sight.

What a lovely surprise to see all these kind comments, thank you all so very much!!

It's an odd word to use I know, but I consider these to be 'smart' colours as in 'classy' and I do like them!

Really like this painting Satu, love the colours!

Very beautiful gulls, I really like your use of color!

Thank you very much Louise, Petra and Jenny for your encouraging comments!

Satu, this is simple, elegant and so, so beautiful. I love how you took such a mundane subject and injected such artistic verve into it. And your palette is just lovely - the colors are muted, yet they sing as well. Really awesome work! I hope we see more of your oils!

Thank you Seok so much for your kind words!

Great colours Satu, love the positions of the gulls. Also like the format and the softness of your oils.

Thank you very much Carole!

I think you should stay with the oils if you produce work of this quality with them. This is stunning and made even more special by the beautiful textures you have achieved in the painting. Really well done!

Thank you very much Thea for your kind comment! I might do more oils later and I have one on the go but it's such a struggle with cleaning the brushes and all.

I took a photo of these two last summer in Finland and thought that they might go well with the other resent oils. One more and I'll go back to my acrylics.
