Yes, I can relate to the bird looking well fed and peaceful, but still being behind bars, alone or lonely - which is it?. I painted a tethered falcon once - I think my intention was similar - but it didn't succeed like yours does. Wonderful!

It's winter and the little bird is alone and lonely and waiting to find a friend. So he sings to himself and who knows, somebody might hear.
