Super job with acrylic. He looks so soft. The feathers are smashing.

This is a good one Ruth. I really like the way you have painted the feathers - just enough detail! The colours are beautiful and I think the snow is very successful. My favourite!

Thank you so much, Jeannette and Julia.

Lovely, well painted. The bird stands out so well against the plainer background.

We get enormous flocks of fieldfares every spring and winter on their way to and from South Africa; such pretty birds with that delicate pinkish grey under their wings yet surprisingly big. I had to ring the RSPB first time I saw over 200 in our garden just to find out what they were. I love them. This one looks very well fed LOL.

Thank you all for your comments...very much appreciated.

You have captured his charming fluffiness against the harsh winter weather. Fab job with a nice painterly feel.

Lovely, charming paintings. Really like the way you have caught the bird puffing his feathers up against the cold. Clever of you to keep the background very simple which works.

Well done you, I love painting birds. I don't seem to be able to get on with Acrylics myself. I find their colours too garish for me without having to spend time toning them all down or lightening them. Ypou have this little fellah just right, so once again well done!

Posting this while I have the courage to do so....first acrylic bird I've attempted...I think feathers are easier to do in pencil though, but am enjoying trying the acrylics...lubbly jubbly buttery!!
