This is a lovely tranquil image using watercolour for only it can do so well. I can almost 'hear' it.

Lovely warm colours - a simple scene, very well painted

I agree with Kim and Helen, this is very well done. Love the colours, very atmospheric!

Thank you very much for your kind words. Best Wishes

Agree with all above - a wonderfully warm and calm painting in which the colours fuse gently together.

Just a hunch, by the way - but did you use a hake?

Hi Robert, Many thanks for looking and for your kind words and yes I did use the hake Best Wishes

Thanks for replying, Russell: I thought you probably had - it's now one of my favourite brushes, and I admire the restraint with which you've used it; the trick seems to be squeezing out excess water, and then employing the lightest of touches. So many people really don't get on with it at all, so it's good to know that a work like this was painted with it.

Hi Robert, Hang on in there and I should also listen to my own advice. I am still battling with a fast and loose approach and the use of the hake. As you say the light touch is essential and for me that doesn't come easy. Lol. I have this mad desire to become competent with watercolour and periodically have to fall back on pastel to get my confidence back. Once in a while I manage to get something reasonable from watercolour. At the moment I am in an in between stage having completed another pastel. So form one to another who is coming to grips my best wishes and feel free to share as you progress and In turn would be happy to do the same. All the best. Russell
