I really like that sky in particular

A painting I could gaze upon for ages. Love your palette and the simplicity of the composition Russell.

Sometimes when I paint the sea and the sky, I come to the conclusion that no other objects, nothing 'extra' is needed, but the technique in painting

Great painting, I agree with Carole and could also gaze at it for ages.

beautiful, love it.

Fantastic technique - why do mine look so amateurish compared with these magnificent vistas? The passion just shines through.

For Pierre: Pierre, it is a very complicated multi-layered technique. In this work, there are as many as twelve semi-transparent layers. As they are placed on on top another on a canvas with premium priming, the paint, as you correctly note, starts shining and acquires a very deep and spacial feeling. P.S. This is the basis of the ancient Flemish technique which I teach to my students.
