Camargue flamingos

Camargue flamingos

Lovely and difficul scene with so many flamingos, but you have worked it very well, Ron.

Whilst visiting Provence we went to Saintes-Maries-del-la-Mer and on the way we stopped at Parc Ornithologique du Pont De Gau where these flamingos were just standing around in what was obviously fairly shallow water with an authentic Camargue farmhouse behind. I love the pink and their haughty demeanor. The Parc is well worth a visit if you're in the area, and of course if you like birds, there are lots as well as the flamingos. While walking around the Parc I, very briefly, saw a Golden Oriole, it was far too quick for a photo.

Beautifully painted, and you've captured the light from that area perfectly, the touches of pink in the water are inspirational. A excellent painting.

We visited Saintes-Marie-del-le-Mer initially for my wife use the toilets after being out birding all day. She asked for some coins and I had none so she went to her handbag which was gone too, then we realised the car had been done on the passenger side lock making it not easy to spot. The police were very good and gave us a statement and also a paper that allowed us to leave France as our passports had gone too.

We managed to sustain the holiday and repatriation but having seen the birds and some raree to us we manage to enjoy the area and this smashing picture revives those better memories.

That got me started after buying some oils and small canvases from…
