Lovely use of tone Roger.

Beautiful pastels, all three. You capture a lovely atmosphere and light.

You've really captured that crisp frost perfectly. Brrrrr! X

I must admit I haven't seen any frost yet this year, but I guess you get up earlier than me. Lovely light in this painting roger!

The leat being in a valley has had frost twice so far this Autumn but you have to get down there early to get the sun shining along the leat. I am an early riser, often getting up at 4am. It's also a good time for me to paint without distraction.

You are getting the fabulous light in all of these lovely pastel paintings.

Just one more thing Roger - what colour paper / board are you using?

All the Frosty morning pastel painting were on off-cuts of mount board primed with artspectrum burgundy pastel primer. I would normally use a lighter, warmer colour primer but I ran out. The images are all 10x8ins. I use a mixture of pastels that I have accumulated over the years but I really like Jacksons own pastels. Would like to try Unison pastels, but need to sell a few painting to pay for them :-) I also do a tonal underpainting with pastels that I then brush about with a stiff brush and alcohol.

Very striking art work, thanks for the info Roger.

Three great paintings Roger

Beautiful colours and light. Great texture too.

This has such impact Roger - it's wonderful

Just love all your pastels.

While walking along Latchbrook Leat in Saltash with my dog this Autumn on a frosty morning, the sun broke through creating wonderful light and shadows.
