Aubergine in Decay

Aubergine in Decay

Lucky you - having been able to go to art school. I bet it makes all the difference to one's skill level. This works wonderfully well and the mould is very believable. Great study.

Thanks Thea for your comment...much appreciated. As for art school, I literally, had no prior involvement with any form of art until a couple of weeks before being asked to enrol...as unexpected as it was disapproved of.

I was about to say I like this still life, but I suspect it is not a still life with all these cultures that have developed! Great idea.

At art school we were encouraged to look at all things living irrespective of their condition. I have painted a few still lifes in their prime . Pristine is ok...slow decay is interesting in another way. As the days progressed, this aubergine slowly sagged into a very sad state but still, it was worth recording. Prime or putrefying, each needs to be regarded with a degree of respect. Oil on canvas..40x30cm Better viewed large
