You're right, it looks very vibrant when enlarged. The background texture is interesting, how did you do that? Incidentally, it's colour complements the physalis beautifully.

Thank you, Marjorie...background is successive layers of paynes gray acrylic wash...very fiddly. Didn't particularly enjoy painting this. May try bottles next..any ideas?

I like the idea of looking at something through a bottle or a glass. I've got some ideas like that in the pipeline. I also like simple glass shapes ( even jam jars) rather than complicated patterns like crystal. When I get the fruit paintings out of the way it's glass here I come!

Interesting composition which works really well and gives focus to the physalis.

I'm a bit behind. I thought I had commented on this, but I hadn't. Beautifully delicate. Basia's are pretty good too, but totally different in feel.

In oils...tricky and more suited to watercolour, a medium that I have no experience of. Darker on POL than in reality...always happens! looks better enlarged..or enraged...then the colour really darkens and the fruit swells up menacingly...anyone else had that experience?
