Instantly recognisable as one of yours, good one Roger

Great project to inspire you, should be an interesting exhibition, your work excels Roger.

Super evocative piece, I can smell the sea!

The coast is an endless source of inspiration; I walked down to our local bay for my usual Sunday walk yesterday, and the light in mid- to late-afternoon just caught the very tips of the waves - you have to SEE these things for yourself, making 'em up in the studio is never the same (and I wish I could still paint in situ, or en plein air as we insist on calling it when we just mean "outside", but there it is - age and arthritis, the painter's enemies: may you be spared the latter, not much you can do about the former [or the latter, come to that - I hope I've cheered you up nicely]). I like the sound of your project, then! And as a bonus - coastal paintings sell ... people like a bit of sea, it seems.

Excellent piece, as always Roger. Sounds like a cracking exhibition……good luck.

Thanks, everyone. I'd asked a fellow member of EDAN for permission to use a photo of Weardale he'd posted, as a reference. That was a possibility for yesterday afternoon's painting session but, as you say Robert, there's no substitute for being there.

Plein air pastel Seaham, 1st December 2024 I am preparing for a group exhibition next year about this coastal area and its vegetation. I am thoroughly enjoying depicting it in varying weather and light conditions.
