Janine Baldwin mentioned Joan Eardley's work.

I think you have achieved your goal with this Roger as it all seems to fit together well. The composition and tones also work well to give a feeling of cold stillness. I really like the fore ground and the restrained pallet used here unlike some artists who use a mish mash of colour while trying to gain effects. All in all a very good painting...

Wonderful painting Roger, captures the temperature and the essence of Winter superbly.

Beautiful, love this Roger.

A successful painting Roger - lovely colours and nice loose brush strokes.

Fabulous painting Roger, I love work like this, it’s so exciting.

This echoes with cold and depth of feeling , great painting, Roger

Well, patience has paid off, like it a lot Roger

Nice work Roger, the sky is particularly well done...really stunning.

The tones, colour and brushwork captures the atmosphere of this scene beautifully Roger

16" x 16"oil on canvas. I've started this kind of subject so many times and never finished a painting because I've never been satisfied with progress. This time, I think I've finished. The subject is from memory and imagination, based loosely on the view from Burdon towards the edge of Seaham. The inspiration to try again came from the February issue of The Artist and the paintings of Janine Baldwin. Something to do during isolation.
