Another lovely painting Rodrigo. It is a very pleasing composition and your choice of media work really well together.

Hi, Julie! Actually, it's a pleasure working with watercolor and soft pastel; we can be spontaneous and driving it for oil painting. About compositions... how much more simple they are better is the result —it is bad when compositions sound artificial because we have expended a lot of time looking for the right place for things. We can feel it. Thus, it is important to have some knowing about composition, once we have inside our head the main points... I use to be attentive to the things around me, when everything looks like untidy and, at same time, in a natural place. So, many times it is only need to give a little touch and focusing the right light —this image is not the best exemple, it's another kind of approach, but I'm ending another small composition, in oil, strating from several elements I was puting upon my wash machine, along time... Suddenly, composition was there :-) Welcome, Julie. Have a nice week end

Hi, Robert! Thank you once more for your kindness. Welcome, John, forever :-)

You know, I am going to try watercolour and pastel myself. At the moment I am "playing safe" with pastels, having spent a year doing charcoal drawings trying to improve my drawing skills. I ought to do more in general, but life .... I also want to get back to oils ....

Hi, Gudrun, thank you for your coming! Well, in my opinion we must improve our drawing skills making what we like to make —oil, pastel, watercolor and so on—; this is the best way for leaving fears of failure, once we never are ready for perfectly making things. As in Life, Art is to walk and to fall and get up... for falling a lot of times along our career —even when we see lovely masterpieces we can be sure that authors only have made what they could make; normally, authors want more and better, and they are always waiting the next work so as to prove to themselves that it is possible. Satisfaction is not an easy matter, Gudrun :-). So, how much later you try, later you will know and to become able for handling the tools. You mustn't have fear of lose, Gudrun; of looking at your work and see it is a shit —if it is, of course. I like to look at my work and see that it is a shit, when it is. I feel grateful, because it means I'm able for seeing the troubles, even if I would like to have been successful. While we can see the problems we can improve our work —I use to say that when we don't see mistakes we are "blind", because mistakes always are there; there always is a distance between our will and our skills :-) Ihope to be useful for you, Gudrun. Welcome!

What a lovely unusual picture.

... Watercolor and soft paste, once more, Shirley. Thank you and welcome!

... This is another mixed watercolor and soft pastel. Some simple flowers I took near my home, which I put inside a demijohn of water. The tissue is an embroidered towel I brought from Bath on 2008...
