Thank you everyone for the lovely comments. I wanted to create a feeling of early-morning serenity, where the air is still and you can hear the conversation of the men unloading from this distance. I've enjoyed rooting this painting in a long-gone moment, and I'm very glad you like it!

Pleased with this watercolour. One of the great things about painting is that I can create worlds of my own. This is actually a real one - Hopeman on the Moray Firth in about 1895. A formerly busy commercial and fishing harbour, it's now quiet. The building on the right is now an art gallery where some of my stuff is exhibited.
