A very very nice picture Rob. That sky is terrific and you have caught the warmth in the bay superbly. I have enjoyed just looking at this scene.

A beautiful sharpness to this, and lovely granulation in the sky. Great drawing skills applied too. The whole painting is perfection in watercolour.

Thank you Michael! It was fun to do with such a beautiful scene and the help of the golden glow around the painting.

Wow - thank you Ann! I wouldn't normally try to fill a painting of this size with so much detail but equally it was nice just suggesting where detail might be without actually painting it.

Absolutely beautiful. What a wonderful big dramatic glowing sky. Your wet in wet technique is so well done. I especially love the red line detail in foreground sailboat, and here and there throughout....(yellow is a challenge for me in watercolor, and you handle it so well!)

Superbly painted, a fantastic piece of work Rob.

Thanks Nancy! This is my favourite yellow, actually Q-gold, which is lovely, glowing and warm, and mixes very well. Here it's in company with rose madder and cobalt blue in a one-wash sky. It's great for making the foreground glow too. I like adding touches of red, especially in the foreground - here it's on the boat to bring it forward from the pier.

Thank you Russell! This place is one of those that keeps drawing me back - I'm not finished with Findhorn yet!

Yes I might just add smashing to all the praise in here. That gold is something worth sourcing. We didn't get to this quay but we did get to Eagle Alley in the Findhorns

Thanks Derek - The Golden Eagles are certainly a sight to see, especially if you can get to close-ish range! I love Q-Gold, and use it a lot. Something I haven't mentioned is how it changes colour depending on the light - it can be a quite cool yellow in bright daylight but it changes to fiery gold under warmer or artificial light. Makes for very interesting originals but quite hard to get print masters just 'so'!

I like this picture a lot. I love the 'easy' soft capture of the buildings and pier. superb!

Nice work Rob, great sky.. lots of interest.... a lot of work well handled.....

Thanks Willie and Guy!

Several lovely works today from your brush Rob, the skies are especially well painted.
