A very interesting composition Rob. I found myself zooming in and studying all aspects. A great palette and I admire your technique.

Thanks Chris - it's a bit busy but it's still a good deal simpler than the real scene! A better view was offered from the far shore here, but the fisherman in question always fished from this spot. I posted the top left quadrant on FB as a composition in its own right and it worked quite well - the simplicity of just trees and reflections was nice!

This was done as a commission where every detail had to be right. I was well into the painting stage before I finally got a photograph of the guy doing the fishing, and found that he looked nothing like the commissioner had described! A few changes later...
