The snag is that iridescent medium doesn't show up too well onscreen, so it's hard to tell if it's worked (fabulous frame, by the way: I know that's a terrible thing to say when I should be commenting on your painting, but it is!). I know Thomas Kinkade's work, and don't like it one little bit: but your exercise is a lot better than the rather schmaltzy effects he goes for: you've stripped out much of the sentimentality that's all too typical of him, and your painting is better for it.

Thank you. The light effect seems to work better in the second effort which I've just posted. I think that it was due to the fact that I shadow painted the medium only before applying the mixed colour combination. If you know the Dogwood work you'll see I left out the tree.

This is an exercise in the the style of Thomas Kinkade using the original as a copy. The idea was to try and capture the 'light" effect in acrylic using iridescent medium
