Red Teapot by Richard Smith

Red Teapot

This is interesting - did you crop the painting after you painted it? It works very well, the focus falling on the teapot, and the restricted palette also drawing attention to the pot. I like painting this subject matter myself, also for the kitchen. P.S. It's very "painterly" and I think I like it best of all your paintings in your gallery.

Thank you Marjorie. I didn't crop the painting itself just the photo. My wife wanted it to match the colour of the walls with red being the accent. We are pleased with the outcome.

This is my largest to date at 50x100cm. I painted this piece for our kitchen. It has five cups to represent our three children, my wife and I. The teapot is our bond. The spoon simply links us all together.
