Knaresborough, Yorkshire
18" x 24". This painting has been selected as a Finalist in International Artist Magazine's Landscape Art Challenge No. 55 and published in Issue 71, February/March 2010. The Challenge attracts thousands of entries from around the world and competition is fierce. Knaresborough is a beautiful, historic market and spa town in North Yorkshire, England and is set on a bluff on the River Nidd. The railway viaduct over the river is a focal point and is the main subject of this painting, where it is viewed from the castle. Crossing the viaduct is the Union of South Africa, a classic A4 steam locomotive pulling the Scarborough Spa Express, which ran in July and August 2007.
