Winter farm scene by Richard Cremer

Less than two months painting and you produce a watercolour like this, amazing, you must have a lot of natural talent for it. Well done.

Thanks for your kind comments Val. My twin brother is an artist - gives a clue. But also to why I have not bothered painting since school. I always judged myself against my brother (who is rather good).

You have achieved a remarkable standard in such a short time. This painting has everything. Recession, perspective, great tonal value and an interesting focal point. The winter trees have been painted with a great deal of skill and the snow shadows are exellent. If I were to make one negative comment it would be that I probably wouldn't have placed the derelict building right in the centre. However having said that, it still looks brilliant. Keep up the good work.

Thanks Chris - and thanks for the criticism I actually do want it! Think it is the 2/3rds rule not being in play here. As a keenish photographer, I do think about that - but quite often well after taking the photo. Aaah - the wonders / ease of photoshop :)

You have done a great job, Keep up... I will not judge myself against anybody. Only try to learn from everyone, good or bad, and constantly improve yourself. Best regards..

I'm not even bothered by the subject being in the centre of the painting: a lot of rules can be broken, it's just helpful if you know of them in the first place, which you obviously do. If you've only been painting for two months - well, some of us are going to have to practice feverishly to keep up with you. You probably can't help comparing yourself with your brother, sibling rivalry being what it is even when you don't intend to be rivals.... so it's probably no good saying it's not a competition. Whatever is motivating you, however, keep painting and posting - a very competent gallery, and a pleasure to see.

Richard this is a cracking painting and I love your mouse picture. You've certainly got talent and you will surprise yourself, I'm sure, of what you will achieve after a few more months, keep painting!

I would never have guessed you had only been painting for three months?,I love the light in this, well done.

My first picture bigger than 6 inches! I suppose you could say it was my first serious picture. Got it from a book. Struggled a bit, but reasonably pleased in the end. That last sentence seems to be a re-occuring event so far (started painting in Feb).
