Well, it is still quite wishy-washy.... I think the problem (is it a problem?) is that it's all wet in wet: you've not let the paint dry and haven't worked into it. That said, you've managed to avoid the almost inevitable bleeding that occurs (not sure how you've done that!). This is your style, of course, but from my humble point of view the weakness (?), problem (?) is the lack of tonal contrast: eg, take the tree on the left - there's no indication of where the light comes from, so there's a lack of modelling and shadow: it's all colour, no tone. This may be what you wanted to achieve, I don't know; see if you can find some of the watercolours of the late Hercules Brabazon - his more free sketches in watercolour may interest you.

wishy washy still! :-p it is not! it is muddy, and dull due to too much paint :-p i do not like this painting and should have put it in the paintings that have gone wrong folder :-) anyway, i am grateful to you for your advise and for looking at my artwork :-)

Using a lot of pigment doesn't produce muddy or dull paintings. You only get mud if you mix too many colours that have too many pigments in each one. Using single pigment colours helps avoid this problem. I don't think your painting is either muddy or dull as it looks a lot stronger and more defined to me. I use a lot of pigment and I don't think any of my paintings honestly look muddy or dull - it depends how you use the paint. However, when all is said and done, you personally have to be happy with your paintings and each person's style is very individual and rightly so. I should just continue exploring the way that you like to paint and keep posting. However, Robert is a fount of knowledge about painting and always gives good, solid advice, so a few of his hints might be helpful - you never know!

Thanks for your comments Thea. I agree that Robert does seem to be a Fount of knowledge. You have just as good advise too :-)

Again, i am not keen that i have used more pigment than i like as the whole painting is dull as if i have mixed the pigments when i have not :-) anyway, trial and error, if i had not tried, i would not know :-) i prefer wishy washy :-p
