And it works - in fact, it's one of my favourites amongst your paintings. I commend it to our friend Ade Brownlow - as a good example of when to put a painting to one side and come back to it later, when you'll see it afresh. Hope it helps with his bridge painting - which has all the makings of a great piece of work. Returning to this one, there is such an effective sense of distance here - you really want to explore that path and see what's beyond the trees; and I love the touches of light, and crisp touches amongst the branches.

Robert, I love the tiny bits of blue in this, the violet blue in the distance, and the warmer turqoise blue on the tree trunks on the right. You have to be quite brave to put those colours in ... works perfectly.

Thanks, guys.....I have to make an admission...often I will do a painting, and, for some reason, it just doesn't work as it should...in the old days I would scrub it, and start again, however, I have found that if the basics are correct, then it is far better to put it aside, and move on to something else, then, at a later time, go back to it with 'fresh eyes"and most times, I will see what has to be done, and often, if not in all cases, the painting works as it should, or at least the way you intended it to! Some of my most successful paintings have been those that I had re-worked at a later time. In this particular painting, I had spent a lot of time on it, and didn't want to waste all the effort I had put into it at that stage. Mind you, it doesn't always work out, and there has been times when I had to admit that it was a failure!

Beautiful colors... love the light coming through. A great painting.

Another beautiful painting, just want to walk the dog through there. Lovely

wonderful, wonderful painting, great colours.

Agree with all the above. Lovely the way you have captured the light.

Missed this one when posted. Wonderful warm light makes me think of Australia bush country on a hot day. Just what I need right now.

This is a re-worked painting. I had it stored in my studio for a while, and it just needed something. Took me a while to decide what needed doing, and finally I reworked the detail in the foreground. Oil on canvas.
