A great image Ray. Cows seem to be so popular at the moment, and looking at your painting, it is easy to see why. I love the rest or your portfolio too.

Another cracker Ray! Great textures and beautiful eyes.

Love these to nosey inquisitive cows Ray

Buchod 'n bert. (Pretty Cows in English). Firstly, I must say thank you to all the people who have commented on my Hen pictures. These paintings are all the same size, 500x500mm, painted on a box canvas. I use Daler-Rowney heavy body acrylics, and use their ordinary acrylic paints when I need a more fluid mix, and for finer detail. I also find Lefranc & Bourgeois nice paints to use. Sometimes I use some modeling paste to build up texture. Brushes are: sables for detail, bristle and synthetics for general use. I also cut pieces of corrugated card to apply paint, and sometimes most of the painting is done with card strips. I start by drawing the main areas of the painting in pencil, and make sure that this is accurate before I apply paint, but once I start painting, things can change, usually by accident when interesting marks or textures are created by the brushes or card strips. It takes about eight hours to complete a painting like this, but I tend to work quickly in short bursts. I'll really get into it and spend about an hour working on one particular area, then take a break and do something else. When the painting is finished I give it a coat of matt acrylic varnish. Well I'll leave it there. Hope this has been of some interest to you. Happy painting, Ray
