Piggies

Piggies
Comments

It is the sad fate of piggies to be today's cute pose, and tomorrow's chops ... my mother adores pigs; she collects models of them, pictures of them - she'd have one, if she could. I haven't noticed that this has put her off pork, mind you: asked to justify this, she did once say "well, there wouldn't be any pigs if we didn't eat them", and I suppose the same justification consoles most of us. At least these have been immortalized in paint. And I'm not sure you haven't just turned me vegetarian...

Poor 'Piggies'....... at least you have immoratlised them n this wonderful painting!

Thanks to everyone who has commented on these three pictures. I seem to have hit a cord, judging by the number of comments I've had. All three paintings will be on display at the Flintshire Visual Arts & Crafts Network exhibition, at the textile Mill, Holywell from Thursday 15th March.

Hi again Ray, love these pigs, you are so good at painting them, how did you get on at that Flintshire Arts & Crafts exhibition?

Size 500x500mm. Heavy body acrylic on a box canvas. Please see comment on the 'Two Hens' picture. I went along to a local farm shop near Ruthin, North Wales, where I live. They breed their own pigs. I asked the owner if I could photograph them for reference for this picture. He said OK, so I've now got plenty of pictures of pigs. Unfortunately, the next time I was passing the shop, I noticed all the pigs had gone! Cracklin! I'll take him a copy of the picture so he can remember them. Sorry, I hope this doesn't upset anyone?
