Lovely composition John. The fallen leaves and shadows on the path are beautifully painted and so are the trees.

Lovely painting John. Gorgeous dappled light.

Lovely rich colours here John.

Lovely composition, colours and depth John.

Great scene John. I'm intrigued by you using pumice stone to prime the paper. Is that all over or just in certain parts?

Thank you Henry, Linda, Jenny, Stephen and Sarah, It done all over Sarah, Actually Pumic powder is super for pastels, gives a great grip and holding power for the pastels.

You do these woodland scenes so well John, beautiful sunshine peeking through the trees.

A rich tapestry of colour John....woods are my favourite place to spend time. I'm interested in trying pumice for pastels John, is it available from most art suppliers? Do I mix it with gesso or something to create a base to work on with pastels?

Amazing the detail its beautiful, love it John

Thanks Carole and Fiona. Your comments are appreciated. Fiona Jacksons the art supplies sell it. But you might do better getting it from you local DIY store. Any kind of acrylic paint will do. Those cheaper squeeze flip top acrylics are ideal. Using white you can tint it to whatever shades you like. Or use any Acrylic paint you have. If you have gesso you can add pumic. The consistency of the acrylic needs to be creamy, not think, but not watery. In the painting here you can see a red patch in the bottom left hand corner. WhatI did in this instance was mix some pumic with acrylic straight from the tube to get my primed surface. In effect adding pumic powder to acrylic you are making a gesso.

Many thanks John, will give it a go.

Your woods are always beautiful, John.
