The Mill and Royal Oak at Langstone by Philip Rogers
Original watercolour painted en plein air on to a quarter imperial sheet of 300 gsm Hahnemuhle not paper. The extremely hot conditions made for a very difficult painting and adaptations were required to my usual painting style and process. I explained this to a passer-by who was interested in my work. I said that this was more about the feeling and sense of place rather than a faithful rendition of this often painted scene. It seemed to do the trick. She emailed me days later with a request to buy the work.
