Now that's clever, if you can even make dust bins look good!

A great urban scene. Grubby alley, grubby bins, grubby sky... Yet it all sparkles.

Your skies are gorgeous Philip and so are the colours used in the brickwork of the walls and buildings and even in the paving on the passage which leads us on to explore beyond through the gate and up to the buildings higher up, even the bins are good! Really lovely painting.

Thanks for the lovely comments. I love the sky stage of any painting. You know the colours required for the effect and whether you want it granulated or not but you never quite know how it's going to work out. I've got an interesting night scene coming up with the orange glow of street lights in a night sky and snow on the ground. Not sure how I will achieve it yet in watercolour - will require a few prelims!

I think all been said, just love the composition, as I'm seriously into detail and weathered texture as well, this is right up my street. Lovely interesting painting.

Terrific composition and wonderful colour, love it.

Thank you Peter & Fred!

I'm not being lazy, but it has all been said. Great painting. I really like this sort of painting.

Congrats on being chosen for the March gallery, very well deserved.

A lot of character, fine detail, highlighted with strong colour. It reminds me of where I used to live which is not a bad thing, you have given me inspiration to create from memory. Love the two bins I bet they could tell a story or two. Thank you. Sheila Townsend

Just looked through all your work and for me this is the No1 Picture. Sheila Townsend.

Thanks Stephen - didn't realise until you mentioned it! Thanks Sheila - just goes to show we can find inspiration from anywhere!

love it, very atmospheric and drew me in.

Love the painting; it looks like Hebden Bridge. Not sure about the title.A clever idea but it seems like a bit of a pop at Northern accents

Thanks Diana, glad you like it. It is back yards in Mossley, Tameside. The title is by no means a pop at Northern accents - why would a northerner have a pop at northern accents ;-). Mossley is in Lancashire but very close to the border with Yorkshire, Cheshire and Derbyshire so you get a right mix up of accents. Where's Tha Bin? Is more Yorkshire than Lancashire, Lancshire would probably be Where'st Bin? (probably haven't spelt that or puntuated that right). I wanted the title to be a talking point and that it is proving to be so I will stick with it.

Love it, you can almost step into the painting!

Like it, it's good.

it looks like youve caught a glimpse of the back yards before the day starts, a veiw we probably all seen before but not took any notice ,great colour and composition..

I love the colours. Just goes to show that any subject can be considered art when it's done so well.

Thank you all for the comments... really means a lot as I've agonised for years over my style. I have decided that I will just paint as best I can, some people will like it some won't but these comments make it all worthwhile!!
