I have just aquainted myself with your gallery again. It is very attractive and I admire your skill in seeking out unusual subjects to paint. I love your quiet, understated style and the touches, like the red bands on the oars in this painting, which make all the difference. It is a real talent to paint detail, but have the painting remain uncluttered and un-busy. Enjoyed looking very much.

Katie, Thanks. It was precisely the fact that the subject was nearly monotone that made it so attractive to me. I sometimes like to paint subjects just to see if I can!. This is one of my own favourite paintings.

Really nice gallery. Some really fresh clean looking watercolurs. REALLY like the subtle tones in this one.

John, thanks for the comments; it was a challenge to achieve definition and contrast with so few colours and a narrow range of tone but it was a good exercise!
