Jeanette thanks, the photos not actually very good but it has shown up some unevenness in the "blacks" that I will have to deal with. Perhaps a little matt varnish will bring it together.

Very striking, I love the extreme tones. Is this what they call 'chiroscuro' ?

Carole, I suppose it is technically a chiroscuro composition as it certainly contains a strong contrast between light and shade. Not a term I had in mind when I saw the original scene or painted the work, I just liked the effect!
