Great painting. What a wonderful sky.

Thanks Margaret, the best skies always seem to 'flow' when I keep them nice and loose!

Yes a lovely loose atmospheric painting - did you paint it in situ? It looks like it being so fresh?

Thanks Peter. I'm afraid I had to rely on memory. The painting is a view from the train looking north. I did my best to keep the image in my head, with a little help from a mobile phone reference shot, thus its 'fleeting'/fresh feel. I like to keep them quick and fresh. The more I 'work' a watercolour, the worse it gets, I find!

Lovely works and a man after my own heart, I once lived in Lancashire, near the river `Lune`, there I fished for river trout many an evening, unfotunately, living now in France, I find that there is not the same appreciation of this wonderful pastime, though France has its other attractions of course. Long may you continue to enjoy these two pastimes. Best regards Christopher

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Christopher, my brother lives in France too (Navarrenx, SW) and we have had many a trout fishing trip down there too! (on the river Oloron). Regards, Peter

A stormy spring sky over Seasalter, Whitstable. The billowing clouds dramatically sweep across the marshes west of Whitstable in this loosely-rendered watercolour original.
