Early morning calm

Peter - attention to detail such as I could never achieve - even if I were to master the techniques involved I certainly would never have the patience - a superb painting..

Another cracking painting Peter, you have very good technical skills. I wonder whether giving a slightly looser treatment to the foliage would be a good foil to the lovely detail on the boats? Just a thought, as you often ask for comments.

Beautifully painted Peter. I like everything, including the foliage, particularly the backlit pampas grass on the left & the hazy recession of the distant trees.

Well painted, Peter. You've really captured the calmness that pervades the scene - I think this is largely due to the limited palette you used. And the atmospheric haze softening the distant background creates a sense of depth.

I have to agree with Stephen about the foliage, but beautiful painting otherwise.

Very, very well painted Peter. My only observation would be that the eye is drawn to the trees and foliage at the edges of the painting and away from the main subject, the boats.

With regards to the tree technique, I suppose it habit and I tend to drift into the stippled technique, maybe a different looser style would enharnce my work, will think on it. Hi Bill, you are so right about the blasted tree, as soon as I had painted it I knew that it was wrong, I have reduced the level of the sky, it helps but it's not great.
